Last of the Winter Wild series of races.

We managed to pack the girls into the car by 5:45am to get to the last of the Winter Wild series of races, this time at Mt. Sunapee. The races consist of getting yourself up the mountain and back down as fast as you can. Pretty simple :) There are different categories based on how you accomplish this. George was in the track ski category (meaning he x-country skied up and down--faster up, but sketchy going down) our friend Justin was in the telemark ski category and our other friend Jesse was in the heavy metal category (he ran up with a snowboard on his back).
The guys did great...so great that while the respective wives enjoyed breakfast in the lodge with the kids we missed the finish!!
We are still waiting for official results, but it looks like George may have come away with second place over all for his category and Jesse first for his! Justin was unfortunately out of the running because he missed a few of the race weekends ---doing other races of course!

George was on the other side of the crowd for the start, but here are Justin and Jesse!

Mud Meet: kid version

First video is Cadel and Annie getting used to the skis.
Second video, Ollie gets to join in the fun--kind of. It was slippery and I was only wearing sneakers, so I am actually impressed I didn't wipe out with her once.
Third video, Annie tries out some skiing by herself!

After watching their Dads at the early morning race at Mt. Sunapee, Annie and Cadel wanted to get in on the action. You couldn't have asked for a better day and as it turned out there was another race in our hometown just as we were getting back. We were already all geared up and George and Justin hadn't started to cramp up yet...so we figured why not!

Part 2: The Mud Meet cont...

The guys in their second race of the day....a nordic combined that included a x-country ski race, a down hill GS race (which George did on x-country skis, but I didn't get video of) and last but not least a ski jump.
George did the smaller ski jump, mostly because there is no way I was going to let him go off the big one with out ever having tried it before---not to mention all he had was a bike helmet. Justin however, has been practicing during the week and so (though I was nervous for him, especially when I climbed to the top to get a video) he did the big jump.
